Dr. Ron Symonds
is the founder and owner of Mountainside Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Symonds has been in private practice for 40 years.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University in Dec. 1971.
His special interests are surgery and client relations. Dr.
Symonds is married to his wife, Karen, and has 5 grown children. In addition, his pets include 4 dogs,
6 cats, and 9 horses. He and his wife live on a farm in
Westminster, Maryland. In spite of a busy lifestyle, he continues
to practice full time. In his free time, he likes to ride
good horses and play a little golf. |

Dr. Barbara Eidel is a 1985 graduate of
the Purdue University school of Veterinary Medicine. She has
been in small animal practice in the Reisterstown area since 1987.
Dr. Eidel has special interests in internal medicine, especially
endocrinology, oncology, as well as puppy and kitten health and
behavior. The key to optimal pet health, in her opinion, is
through owner education and close communication about medical problems.
Dr. Eidel is dedicated to providing compassionate, high quality
care to all animals along with the "team" at Mountainside
Veterinary Hospital. She believes you can never have too many cats, or enough training for your dogs! She lives in Westminster with her husband,
two daughters, 12 cats, 2 Border Collies, 4 horses, and 12 chickens. When not at work, she enjoys riding horses, gardening, artwork, and spending time with her family. |

Dr. David Mannes attended undergraduate
studies at the University of Maryland at College Park where he completed
his studies with a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Biological
Sciences. He graduated with honors from Ross University, school
of Veterinary Medicine in September 1993. David also had additional
training at Oklahoma State University and performed a year-long
internship type program at Purdue University in Indiana. Dr.
Mannes has a special interest in the area of cardiology and surgery.
David joined Mountainside Veterinary Hospital in April 1995.
He was raised in the Baltimore area and has been practicing small
animal and exotic medicine since 1995. David currently resides
in Owings Mills, a suburb of Baltimore with his wife, twin boys,
two dogs, and two cats. |

Dr. Shawn Koelemeyer
DVM is originally from Grand Island, a small town near Buffalo,
New York. He attended Union University graduating in 1993
and practiced as a pharmacist until he started veterinary college
at Cornell University. After graduating from Cornell in 2003,
Dr. Koelemeyer joined our practice here at Mountainside. Shawn
currently lives in Westminster with his wife, Karen, and his four dogs, Stella, Skippy, Kahuna,
and Cheech. He also has two cats, Kittun and Bed Bug. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Shawn
is an avid hockey fan -- playing ice hockey in Reisterstown and supporting the Hershey Bears and Washington Capitals (unless the Sabres are playing!!). |

Dr. Jennifer Starlings
is a 2006 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine. She joined the Mountainside family as a new grad and has been here ever since. Raised in Reisterstown, she attended St. Paul's high school and then called Blacksburg, VA home for eight years; it was there that she earned her BS in animal science and DVM degree. Throughout her life, Jen has enjoyed the companionship of cats, and as such, is particularly interested in feline medicine. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband Daren, daughter Colbie, two dogs, two cows, and a few cats ;-) In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and cooking.
